Bronze faucets resist corrosion better than standard bathroom fixtures, but they still require regular maintenance to keep them in good shape. Here are some ways you can keep your bronze faucets looking new.
Keep your bronze faucets dry
After use a towel to wipe dry the surface of your bronze faucet. Water that evaporates on the surface of the faucet can leave behind mineral deposits. Be sure to use a soft towel or non-abrasive sponge as an abrasive material may damage the surface of your faucet.
Clean your bronze faucets regularly
Over time dirt and grime will settle on the surface of your bronze faucets. In addition, common bathroom cosmetics such as hairspray, shaving gel and toothpaste may build up on the faucet. A simple cleaning can rid the faucet of these items and make your bronze faucet look fresh again.
To clean the faucet surface prepare a solution of half water and half white vinegar. The vinegar solution will help remove water mineral deposits. Common household cleaners such as Formula 409, Fantastik or Windex Glass Cleaner can also be used to get rid of common bathroom grime.
With a soft cloth or non-abrasive sponge, wet the surface with your cleaning solution and scrub the entire surface of the faucet, being sure to get into the nooks and crevices around all of he faucet parts and at the base of the faucet.
When you are done scrubbing the faucet, be sure to rinse it with clean water and then dry it with a soft cloth.
A couple of times a year you can use a liquid wax to polish your bronze faucet. Dip a clean cloth in the wax and wipe down the entire fixture. After the wax has dried, use another clean cloth to polish the surface of your bronze faucet. This should brighten your fixture and bring it back to life.
Warning: Harsh and abrasive cleaners and sponges may damage your bronze faucet surface. Avoid using cleaners such as Scrubbing Bubbles or Soft Scrub. Also avoid any cleaners that contain any types of acids as a cleaners or any bleach-based cleaners.
